Who are the Jackals?
The Guernsey Jackals were formed in August 2001 and at the time were the only full contact women's rugby team in the Channel Islands. The team folded in 2003 due to lack of players but was recently reserected following an influx of requests to start a women's team and the appointment of a dedicated Rugby Development Officer in Guernsey.

Being on the Island of Guernsey is difficult when it comes to finding other women's teams to practice against . . . indeed, the lack of other teams in the Channel Islands has led to them having to play against the men! While rolling around in the mud with men may be fun, we could certainly do with some female competition . . . so if you're a member of a UK or foreign women's team, why not contact our player/manager Debbie to arrange a friendly?
"Women play rugby . . . Chicks stand on the sidelines!"
It has been very difficult finding women on the Island who are quite willing to put their entire body on the line by playing full contact rugby. This means though, that when we do find them, they are definitely 'up-for-it' and 'champing at the bit'. We currently have sixteen team members, the stalworts of which are the following players:

Adele 'Squeaky' Langlois, Fly-half/captain
Debbie 'Terrier' Reynolds, Scrum half/manager
Julie 'TP' Vickerman, Inside Centre/Social Secretary
Jo 'Lumpy' Hamon, Hooker/Finance Secretary
Emma 'Big Bird' Rayson, 2nd Row
Carolyn Le Cocq, Prop
Toni Osborne, Utility Back
Fiona Drape, 2nd Row
Linda 'Memeep' Johnson, Outside Centre
Mahri, Prop
Emma Church, Prop/Second Row
Jemma Bailey, Utility Forward/Back
Sarah Walsh, Utility Back

If you live in Guernsey and want to give rugby a 'try', then contact Debbie (see contacts).

Fancy A Game?
The Guernsey Jackals entered the National Sevens Tournament in June this year but have not organised to attend any other tournaments yet.

We are always looking for opponents to play a few friendlies so, if your team are looking for new challenges, then why not try the Jackals. We may be a new team but I'm sure we'll be formidable opponents. Give our Manager Debbie a call or email her now (see contacts).
